Rosewood Hills, Columbia, SC
On March 1, ground was broken for the mixed-use, mixed-income development of Rosewood Hills, a 21-acre, $35 million traditional neighborhood development in Downtown Columbia next to the University of South Carolina. Urban Collage designed the master plan, which features a linear greenway, neighborhood pocket parks and a reconfigured street pattern that allows the 109 single-family homes, townhouses and duplexes to terrace down the sloped site. A mixed-use residential / retail building and senior village will provide an additional 78 housing units in architecture reminiscent of older neighborhood commercial buildings and the surrounding historic Rosewood neighborhood.

Town Center, Kennesaw, GA
In December 2004, the Town Center Area Community Improvement District (TCA-CID) successfully completed and adopted the 'SuPurb LCI Study' funded through the Atlanta Regional Commission's Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Program. Urban Collage, working with a team of consultants, made comprehensive recommendations for creating high-density mixed-use activity centers at Town Center Mall and the planned Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Station at Busbee Drive. The implementation of the plan is already underway with Cobb County and GRTA working on acquiring land for the BRT Station. Concurrently, the TCA-CID is moving ahead with plans for the Noonday Creek Trail and South Barrett Parkway Reliever.

Downtown Health and Bioscience District,
Atlanta, GA

On February 16, 2005, Urban Collage, Inc. unveiled a vision for a Downtown Health and Bioscience Campus in Atlanta's Central Business District.  The feasibility study, developed under the direction of Central Atlanta Progress (CAP), outlines a potential collaboration between Grady Health System, Georgia Research Alliance, Georgia State University, Morehouse School of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine and Georgia Tech along with the private sector.

The plan, which addresses a critical area identified by the City's economic development strategy and aligns with Georgia's statewide effort to recruit new bioscience industries, illustrates the potential for up to 3 million square feet within a downtown campus surrounding Grady Hospital.

The Perimeter CID's Construction Bids
The Perimeter CIDs announced the "letting of construction bids" for the $34.9 million Perimeter Flyover Bridge that will connect Perimeter Center Parkway (near the Marriott Hotel, Gold Kist and Cotton States) to Lake Hearn Drive. Along with providing a commute alternative to Ashford Dunwoody Road, the bridge will create a new connection to the Dunwoody MARTA Station.

Ivan Allen Boulevard Construction Started
Timed to coincide with the opening of the new Georgia Aquarium, Ivan Allen Boulevard will soon be the address of choice at the north end of Downtown Atlanta.   Connecting Peachtree Street with Northside Drive, the boulevard will provide a needed east-west connection and access to the museum campus taking shape at Centennial Olympic Park and the emerging mixed-use district on Centennial Hill.

Midtown Cityscapes Streetscape Program
Construction is expected to begin this month on $6 million in streetscape improvements in Midtown Atlanta.  The projects, along Peachtree Street (3rd to 10th) and West Peachtree Street (North Avenue to 12th Street) are part of the Midtown Cityscapes Program.
