ATLANTA BELTLINE

This unprecedented 22-mile loop of mostly-abandoned railroad right-of-way around Downtown Atlanta continues to gain momentum.  The TAD (Tax Allocation District), it's funding source, was approved in November 2005.  In June 2006, the city purchased a large rock quarry property in the northwest section that will eventually be turned into a 300-acre park. In the summer of 2005, Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. was created to focus on the management and execution of the BeltLine.  The long-term vision for the loop includes a new transit system integrated with 22 miles of new mixed use development, 33 miles of greenways paths and 1200 acres of new parks, linking 45 Atlanta neighborhoods.  For more information on the BeltLine, click HERE.

HUD HOPE VI GRANTS

Completed Master Plans for (11) HOPE VI grants - successfully received $262,425,352.00 million in funding.  Housing Authority Clients included: Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Denver Housing Authority, Atlanta Housing Authority, Columbia Housing Authority, Greenville Housing Authority, the Charlotte Housing Authority, the Spartanburg Housing Authority, and the Fayetteville Metropolitan Housing Authority.

LIVABLE CENTERS INITIATIVE (LCI)

Urban Collage, Inc has completed 22 LCI plans, with $43 million in funding secured. This list includes Buckhead Action Plan (Atlanta, GA), Perimeter Focus (Fulton and DeKalb Counties, GA), Blueprint Cumberland (Cobb County, GA), Blueprint Midtown (Atlanta, GA), Suwanee Town Center (Suwanee, GA), Emory Village (Decatur, GA), City of Fayetteville Town Center (Fayetteville, GA), Kensington MARTA Station LCI (DeKalb County, GA), City of Lithonia (Lithonia, GA), Kennesaw Redefined (Kennesaw, GA), Old National Highway (College Park, GA), Snellville (Snellville, GA), Brookhaven-Peachtree Activity Center (DeKalb County, GA), Highway 78 (Gwinnett County, GA), Holly Springs (Holly Springs, GA), Town Center SuPerb (Kennesaw, GA), and JSA-McGill Corridor (Atlanta, GA), Oakland City / Lakewood LCI (Atlanta, GA), Dallas (Dallas, GA), Indian Trail/Lilburn (Lilburn, GA), North Point, Alpharetta, GA. To date these projects amount to 14,954 new housing units, 2,944,261 sf of new commercial space, 22,030,500 sf of new office space and 119 new developments.

BLUEPRINT MIDTOWN

New mixed-use and public space zoning districts (SPI-16 and SPI-17), affecting 700 acres, were adopted in 2001.  9,000 new residential units, 8 million sf of new commercial/office space, 600,000 square feet of new retail space, 600 new hotel rooms and 2.3 million sf of cultural institutions constructed since 1998.  Schematic design has been completed for 10 corridors as part of the Cityscapes streetscape program, of which $15 million has been constructed of the over $35 million committed to the projects. 

SUWANEE TOWN CENTER

10 acre New Town Center Park constructed, 71,200 sf of mixed use under construction, 116 New Townhomes   and 85 Single Family Homes built at Shadowbrook. New 25,000 – 35,000 sf City Hall, Police Department and Municipal Court space planned and programmed.  Check out this LINK to an article in the "Georgia's Cities" Newspaper.

IMAGINE DOWNTOWN

New Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke under construction, $673 Million invested in new residential projects, 14 new mixed-use projects under construction.  New Downtown Livability Code to be adopted.  $28 million committed to Downtown corridor streetcapes and transportation improvements.

PERIMETER FOCUS

Over 3 million sf of office space, 500,000 sf of retail space and 1500 residential units completed or under construction, Public Space Standards adopted by Fulton County, over $20 million committed to Perimeter Public Spaces Program, Perimeter Pkwy Bridge completed, over $500 million in major transportation improvements planned.

CUYLER-BROWNSVILLE

100 new housing units and new park constructed for a $30 Million Investment.

SNELLVILLE TOWN CENTER

400,000 sf mixed use  project,  over 200  new residential units,  50,000 sf of   office  space and  50,000 sf.   of retail to begin construction in Fall, 2005.  The new 33,277 sf City Hall is expected to open August 2005.  $2.5 million in streetcape funds committed.

DOUGHERTY COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM

DCSS passed a $84 million sales tax referendum and has begun construction of 2 new elementary schools; renovations/additions to one of four high schools.  Additionally, designs for a third new elementary school and additions/renovations to the other 3 high schools have been completed.  In addition, comprehensive changes have been made to attendance zones.

ATLANTA PUBLIC SCHOOLS BUILDSMART

Through the BuildSmart Facilities Master Plan, APS had the opportunity, through the 10 year, $1 billion Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) to comprehensively plan and implement a wholesale capital improvement program.  Urban Collage prepared the plan and has overseen the programming and schematic design for 31 elementary schools, 10 middle schools and 6 high schools.  In addition, the 230,000 sf Center for Leadership and Learning was completed on time and under budget.

ROSEWOOD HILLS

$11 million in HOPE VI funds secured, $4 million in public improvements and parks under construction, 155 new single family homes, 32 Town Homes, 52 Senior Units and 22 Duplex Units.
