URBAN COLLAGE, INC. CELEBRATES 10 YEARS
Urban design thrives in an environment that values and debates the civic realm. Undoubtedly, the attention, resources and focus that grew out of preparations for the Centennial Olympic Games raised the awareness of urban design within the fast-growing Atlanta region. In this context, Urban Collage was formed in 1997 by Robert Begle and Stanford Harvey, fresh off of three years with the Corporation for Olympic Development in Atlanta (CODA.) The philosophy of the new firm was personified in its name - a belief in the organic process of placemaking at multiple levels, but grounded in the specific culture, economics and physicality of its locale. From its small beginnings in an adapted loft in Poncey-Highlands to the large and talented group that now resides along the signature streets of its two hometowns, the firm's growth has paralleled the increasing challenges and appreciation of practicing urban design within the Southeast.
